No. In Massachusetts, as with many states, physical therapists are able to be seen by "direct access", which means you do not need a referral to be seen. However, many insurances companies continue to require a referral from a physician or provider. It helps for you to know what your specific insurance plan requires.
Bare Cove Wellness has chosen to be a concierge physical therapy and wellness practice where we do not bill insurance companies. This allows us to provide individualized one-on-one care and attention to the individual clients needs.

In a typical one hour session, the client lies quietly, fully clothed, while the practitioner makes light contact at selected points around the head, torso, knees, and feet. This light contact consists of gentle pressure of the hands, with no forceful thrusts or bone manipulation. This gentle pressure allows for a release of restrictions in the connective tissue throughout the body and enhances activation of the parasympathetic nervous system to allow the individual to heal.
Some people use craniosacral therapy as an adjunct to other forms of treatment, including migraine headaches, chronic pain, chronic fatigue syndrome, post-traumatic stress disorder, trauma of any kind, post-surgical recovery, TMJ, sleep difficulties, and others.
Craniosacral therapy does no harm when practiced sensitively and respectfully by a trained practitioner. It may support an attitude shift in clients toward a more direct and intimate sense of their own wellbeing, a feeling of "being more at peace with oneself."
