What's In Your Toolbox?

As an everyday athlete, I've had my share of aches and pains over the years and I've tried all sorts of self-management tools at home. I'll dedicate this page to sharing the tried and true tools that you can consider adding to your own home toolbox.

Some of the links on this page are affiliate links, meaning I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase. This helps support the upkeep of this site at no extra cost to you.

The Original Neck Hammock

I love this tool for relieving neck pain. It's lightweight, portable and easy to use at home or in any doorway where you can find space to lay down and relax. The elasticity of the tension support band allows your head and neck to relax into it. In just a few minutes your body self-adjusts to where the relief is needed.

The CranioCradle

I came across this self-treatment tool when I was looking for a wedge to relieve stiffness in my low back. It can be positioned under the neck for head/neck tension relief, under the spine at a point of tension, or under the sacrum to relieve tension and pain in your low back. It's made of a soft durable foam. It's comes with instructions for how to position it for your own self-care. In a craniosacral world, this can be used to create a "stillpoint" which elicits a deep relaxation response in your body.

Sacro Wedgy: The Back Aid Stabilizer

The SacroWedgy is a dense foam wedge that is curved to provide support while laying on it under your sacrum. It can be used to relieve sciatica, low back pain, hip pain, knee pain and more. It helps the muscles around the sacrum slowly rebalance using gravity. It is not a quick fix. There are male and female models to accommodate individual anatomy differences; taller individuals may prefer the male version.

Personally, I find relief when I lay with this under my sacrum and a CranioCradle under my head/neck to provide support and relaxation to the whole spine. It can be uncomfortable at first; 5-10 minutes a few times a week may be all you need.
